Rita Banerji
The dust collected on her shoes during shoots inspired Rita to name the company that she started as Dusty Foot Productions! A leading environment filmmaker, Rita’s work is grounded in the use of visual communication as a tool for conservation-based narratives. She has been part of three Panda Award-winning films including The Wild Meat Trail (2010) that kick-started her outreach work in the northeast region of India. She is also the Founder- Director of Dusty Foot Foundation and Green Hub - a collaborative training in visual documentation programme for marginalised youth across the northeast and central regions of India. Recipient of the National Geographic - CMS Prithvi Ratna Award in 2017 for her outstanding contribution to conservation, and the RBS Earth Hero Award in 2018. She was awarded the Sanctuary Nature Foundation Wildlife Service Award in 2020. As a leading social entrepreneur, Rita was inducted as an Ashoka Fellow for the Green Hub project in 2020. In her off time, she can be found indulging in sports, music or reading while sipping on chai!
